World Labs: Acceptable Use Policy

The following Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is attached to and made part of the Terms of Service ("TOS") entered into between World Labs and You. If there is a conflict between any such TOS and the AUP, the AUP prevails. The AUP is effective as of the above Effective Date, and remains in effect until termination of your TOS.

Throughout this document, we may refer to ourselves as "we", "us", "our," "World Labs", or "WL". We may refer to you as "you", "your", "yours", "User", "Customer", "or Visitor". When interpreting this policy, please note that the words "include", "includes", or "including" should be read as followed by "without limitation". Moreover, the word "or" is not exclusive, and "herein", "hereof", "hereto", and "hereunder" refers to the AUP in its entirety.

By using or accessing our products and services, you acknowledge you have read and understood this AUP, agree to follow this AUP, and accept the practices herein described.

World Labs may revise this AUP at any time in our sole discretion. Changes become effective immediately upon posting unless otherwise specified. For changes that materially expand the obligations hereunder, we will provide advance notice as required by law. You are responsible for regularly reviewing this Policy for updates. Accessing or using the Sites or Services after a change has been made signifies your acceptance of such change.

1. DEFINITIONS

1.1. "AI Technology" means any and all machine learning, deep learning, and other artificial intelligence technologies, including statistical learning algorithms, models (including large language models and general-purpose AI models), neural networks, computer vision systems, and other artificial intelligence tools or methodologies, all software implementations of any of the foregoing, and related hardware or equipment capable of processing inputs and generating outputs (including but not limited to text, images, video, audio, 3D environments, spatial representations, or computer code) based on user-supplied prompts, data, or other inputs.

1.2. "Applicable Law" has the same meaning per the TOS.

1.3. "Content" means any information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, tags, or other materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, including but not limited to Output generated by or through the Services and any materials created, modified, or processed using AI Technology.

1.4. "High-Risk Uses" means uses of AI Technology that pose significant risks to health, safety, fundamental rights, or that are subject to heightened regulatory requirements under applicable law, including but not limited to uses that could result in physical harm, legal consequences, or discrimination against individuals, including as regulated under the EU AI Act, California SB 1001 (Transparency in Frontier Artificial Intelligence Act), California SB 2273 (California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act), New York STOP Harms Act, New York Child Data Protection Act, Connecticut SB 1103 (concerning artificial intelligence), Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act, Maryland HB 1202 (facial recognition services), Texas HB 2273 (deepfake prohibition), Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (automated decision-making provisions), Colorado Privacy Act (automated decision-making provisions), Utah Consumer Privacy Act (automated decision-making provisions), and other applicable federal, state, and local AI regulatory frameworks.

1.5. "Input" has the same meaning per the TOS.

1.6. "Output" has the same meaning per the TOS.

1.7. "Services" has the same meaning per the TOS.

1.8. "Use" or "Uses" means any use of the Services, including but not limited to accessing, operating, or interacting with the Services; submission, uploading, or inputting of any Input into the Services; generation, creation, or processing of any content or Output through the Services; downloading, accessing, or utilizing any Service Outputs; and any other interaction with or deployment of the Services or AI Technology provided hereunder.

2. PROHIBITED USES

2.1. Unlawful Purposes.

You may not engage in any Use that:

  • violates, or promotes, facilitates, or contributes to, a violation of any Applicable Law;
  • is inconsistent with this AUP;
  • builds or develops any AI Technology, using the Services, in contravention of, or for use in any manner inconsistent with, this AUP; or
  • constitutes High Risk Uses.

2.2. Child Safety and Anti-Trafficking.

You may not engage in Uses that compromise child safety, including exploiting, harming, or attempting to exploit or harm children, whether or not prohibited by Applicable Law, including:

  • distributing or promoting child sexual abuse material;
  • facilitating or promoting trafficking, sextortion, grooming, or abuse of children;
  • exposing children to sexual or harmful content;
  • collecting children's personal information in violation of Applicable Law;
  • using children's personal information for secondary purposes in violation of Applicable Law; or
  • promoting, describing, or depicting exploitation, abuse, or harm to a child, including child sexual abuse material, and content impersonating or intended to impersonate a child.

You may not engage in Uses that engage in, promote, or facilitate human trafficking or sexual solicitation, exploitation, or related violence.

2.3. Technical Restrictions.

You may not engage in Uses that:

  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, damage, or disrupt any parts of the Services or any connected or related computer, software, firmware, hardware, device, data, database, system, or network;
  • violate, attempt to violate, or knowingly facilitate the violation of the security, integrity, or availability of the Services or any connected or related computer, software, firmware, hardware, device, data, database, system, or network;
  • introduce or distribute to the Services or use the Services to introduce or distribute any viruses, trojan horses, backdoors, malware, worms, logic bombs, malicious code, or other software, device, technology, or material that is malicious or technologically harmful; or
  • circumvent or interfere with features, functionality, filters, or safeguards of the Services that are intended to limit or mitigate violations of Applicable Law or this AUP or other harms resulting from use of the Services, without express authorization from World Labs.

2.4. Discrimination, Harassment, and Hateful Behavior.

You may not engage in Uses that engage in, promote, facilitate, incite, or contribute to unlawful harassment, discrimination, violence, terrorism, abuse, bullying, threats, intimidation, or hateful behavior, content, or speech.

You may not engage in Uses that unlawfully discriminate against any individual or group in the provision or denial of education, employment, employment benefits, credit, healthcare, housing, insurance, other economic benefits, or other essential goods and services on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, genetic information, language, national origin, race, religion, reproductive health, sex, veteran status, or other classification protected by Applicable Law.

2.5. Privacy and Identity.

You may not engage in Uses that compromise or violate the legal rights (including the rights of publicity and privacy) of any person, including:

  • accessing, collecting, soliciting, processing, disclosing, or sharing personal information in any manner that does not strictly comply with Applicable Law.
  • conducting unlawful monitoring, tracking, or surveillance of individuals;
  • using or distributing digital replicas in violation of Applicable Law;
  • impersonating any person without authorization, consent, or legal right, or misrepresenting your identity or affiliation with any Person; or
  • creating Content that gives the impression that the associated content emanates from or is endorsed by us or any person, if this is not the case.

2.6. Weapons and Infrastructure.

You may not engage in Uses that develop, use, operate, produce, market, exchange, or distribute illegal weapons, explosives, or controlled substances.

You may not engage in Uses that disrupt critical infrastructure, applications, or services, such as electrical, water, gas, and nuclear systems and facilities, road and air traffic control systems, emergency services, and telecommunications.

2.7. Abuse and Misinformation.

You may not engage in Uses that intentionally or knowingly deceive, defraud, mislead, misinform, or disinform others, including to:

  • represent, or otherwise deceive or mislead others to think, that Content is human-generated;
  • engage in academic dishonesty or plagiarism;
  • distribute "spam";
  • disrupt or interfere with election-related processes; or
  • distribute or promote misinformation or disinformation in regulated contexts, including but not limited to election-related content, public health information, or other areas where specifically prohibited by Applicable Law.

You may not engage in Uses that exploit the vulnerabilities of an individual or group due to their age, disability, or a specific social or economic situation, with the objective, or the effect, of materially distorting their behavior in a manner that causes or is reasonably likely to cause significant harm.

Users must disclose when AI-generated content from the Services is used in communications, publications, or presentations where recipients could reasonably be expected to believe the content is human-created, particularly in professional, commercial, or public contexts.

2.8. Law Enforcement, Surveillance, and Categorization.

You may not engage in Uses that promote, facilitate, or contribute to:

  • risk-assessment that assesses the risk of an individual to commit a crime or re-offend (except in support of a human assessment based on verifiable facts);
  • categorizing individuals or groups based on biometric data or inferring characteristics about them such as race, political opinions, religion, or sexual orientation, unless in accordance with Applicable Law;
  • real-time, remote biometric identification of individuals in publicly accessible spaces for law enforcement, unless in accordance with Applicable Law; or
  • social scoring systems based on social behavior or known, inferred, or predicted personality characteristics that cause detrimental or unfavorable treatment.

2.9. Decision Making.

You may not engage in Uses that promote, facilitate, or contribute to:

  • techniques that may materially distort an individual or group's behavior by impairing their ability to make an informed decision in a way that causes or is reasonably likely to cause significant harm;
  • automated decision making, or as a substantial factor in making decisions, with legal or similarly significant effects on an individual or group, including profiling, unless done in accordance with Applicable Law; or
  • generating or providing legal, financial, health, medical, tax, or other professional advice, decisions, or recommendations without disclosure of your use of AI Technology.

2.10. Other Sexually Explicit Content.

You may not engage in Uses that:

  • depict or request sexual intercourse or sex acts;
  • generate content related to sexual fetishes or fantasies;
  • facilitate, promote, or depict incest or bestiality; or
  • engage in erotic chats.

2.11. EXPORTS.

You may not use the Services in violation of applicable export control laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You may not access or use the Services if you are located in, or a national of, any country subject to U.S. trade sanctions or export restrictions.

3. REPORTING AND APPEALS

3.1. Reporting Violations.

Users may report suspected violations of this AUP through the following mechanisms:

All reports will be reviewed by our Trust & Safety team and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with this AUP.

3.2. Right to Appeal.

If we take enforcement action against your account or content (including content removal, account warnings, suspension, or termination), you have the right to appeal our decision.

3.3. Appeals Process.

At this time, to submit an appeal:

  • Email: appeals@worldlabs.ai with your account information, the specific action taken, and your reason for appeal. Appeals must include: (a) specific grounds for appeal; (b) supporting evidence; (c) preferred resolution.
  • Timeline: We aim to review appeals within fourteen (14) business days of receipt.
  • Decision: You will be notified of our decision via email with an explanation of the outcome.

Appeals will be reviewed by a member of our Trust & Safety team who was not involved in the original enforcement decision. We may reverse, modify, or uphold the original action based on our review of the facts and applicable policy.

4. MONITORING AND ENFORCEMENT

4.1. Monitoring.

We may monitor your use of the Services to evaluate your compliance with this AUP and to investigate any suspected or reported violation by you or your authorized users. We will notify you of enforcement actions taken against your account, including the reason for the action and your right to appeal under Section 4 above.

Any violation of this AUP by you or your authorized users constitutes a material breach of the TOS. In addition to our rights under the TOS, if we, in our sole reasonable discretion determine that you have violated this AUP, we may:

  • Warn you of the violation and provide an opportunity to fix the issue;
  • Remove or restrict access to the applicable content;
  • Terminate or suspend your account or other access to all or part of the Services;
  • Take appropriate legal action, including referral to law enforcement or other authorities, where applicable for illegal or unauthorized use of the Service;
  • Report violations of this AUP relating to the exploitation or abuse of child, including CSAM, to the National Center of Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and other relevant authorities and organizations.

4.2. Transparency Reporting.

We will publish periodic transparency reports summarizing (in an aggregated fully anonymous format):

  • Methodology for violation detection;
  • Number and types of violations reported and detected;
  • Enforcement actions taken (warnings, content removal, account suspensions);
  • Appeals received and outcomes; and
  • Reports made to law enforcement or other authorities

These reports will be made available on our website and updated at least annually.

Without limiting the foregoing, we have the right to fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing us to disclose the identity or other information of anyone who accesses or uses the Services.
